Intercultural Exchange

Students pose together during a trip to Mexico for Intercultural Exchange

Bosque School has a long history of student intercultural exchanges with partner schools in Mexico. Through this program, our students build skills in cultural awareness and understanding, Spanish language immersion, global citizenship and empathy, personal confidence and growth, and make lifelong connections.

Dating back to 2004, Bosque School has long seen the value of providing meaningful intercultural exchange opportunities for our students. The Bosque School Intercultural Exchange program was designed as a language and cultural immersion experience, and we have had many long-standing relationships with partner schools over the years. We currently partner with Prepa UDEM in beautiful Monterrey, Mexico. We take equally seriously the experience of travel and cultural immersion for our own students and the opportunity to host our partner schools and students in Albuquerque.

Our intercultural exchange program occurs during the three-week immersive courses each spring. Bosque School students have the opportunity to be based at two of Prepa UDEM’s campuses, located in Obispado and San Pedro. Through a selective application process, approximately fifteen sophomores and juniors are matched with a Prepa UDEM student and host family. Students are fully immersed in the Spanish language and attend classes, participate in field trips, and live with their Mexican host families for two weeks. Students have the opportunity to attend sporting events, prepare traditional meals, and actively engage in the community. In the fall, Prepa UDEM students travel to Albuquerque to experience our school culture and community by attending classes on campus, living with Bosque School families, and experiencing the dynamic opportunities and cultural richness of New Mexico.

Student Testimonial:
