Twenty students and a handful of adults stuffed two buses and a couple of overflow vehicles on Thursday with 114 bags filled with shirts, pants, coats, hats, undergarments, socks, water bottles and lunch bags, all to help kids in need in Bernalillo County!
The donations, collected over the last several weeks, were dropped off with Locker #505, a non-profit organization that has established a student-focused facility where children can try on and choose outfits that they feel good about wearing. The organization believes that having appropriate school clothing allows children to concentrate on their schoolwork, not on their clothing and appearance. It also helps keep children, who might not go to class because of their clothes, stay in school.
The clothing drive was sponsored by the Middle School Student Government LEAD Team. To learn more about the Locker #505 program, click HERE.
