Josh ‘24 was recently selected by the New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA) to be on its prestigious Student Leadership Advisory Council (SLAC). The SLAC is composed of student representatives from each region of the state and provides students the opportunity to offer input and suggestions to NMAA about issues that affect students. The SLAC also encourages positivity among student-athletes and assists in the promotion and development of NMAA-related initiatives such as Compete with Class and Life of an Athlete.
In order to serve on the council, students first had to be nominated by leadership in their local school district. They were then chosen from a pool of their peers and invited to represent their districts. In a congratulatory email to Josh and other new council members, assistant directors of the NMAA wrote, “This leadership opportunity can lead to building relationships across the state that opens doors to new possibilities in the future. We are proud to welcome you to our council.”
Jeaney Garcia, Bosque School’s athletic director, says being selected to serve on the Student Leadership Advisory Council is a tremendous honor, and she is extremely excited and proud of Josh for this accomplishment. We couldn’t agree more. Great job, Josh!
