Campus Master Plan & Safety Changes Coming This Summer

During the 2020–21 academic year, the board of trustees engaged in a campus master planning process with the local architecture firm, RMKM. The campus master plan will guide the school in the ongoing evolution, enhancement, and expansion of its 42-acre campus in support of further manifesting our mission

Through the campus master planning process, we carefully considered safety and security. We aimed to enhance safety relating to the movement of drivers and pedestrians around campus while still maintaining easy entry and exit for our communities. After many conversations, the board approved the following changes to the flow of both our driving and pedestrian traffic:

  1. Over the week of March 22, the sidewalk was extended to the west of the gym, providing a complete and safe pathway for pedestrians traveling along Bosque School Road to the Mirandela Road gate.
  2. Commencing the week of June 13, Bosque School Road off of Coors will become a one-way entrance into the heart of campus. The north gate at Mirandela Road and Bosque School Road will become the only exit on campus besides the north parking lot entry/exit. We will also be adding additional parking spaces along Bosque School Road. These changes will not impact student drop-off and pick-up locations, including the north parking lot.
  3. The City of Albuquerque has approved our request to install a crosswalk from the north end of Bosque School Road across Mirandela Road to provide safer pedestrian crossings to the Andalucia shopping center. This crosswalk will be installed in conjunction with the transition to the one-way road, beginning the week of June 13.

The goal is that these changes will greatly enhance the safety of our students and families.

As we return for the 2022–23 school year, our facilities team will be on hand to help orient our community to the changes and point everyone in the right direction. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to Director of Facilities Bruce Stell.
