Staffulty Orientation & Professional Development Week

Bosque School staffulty spent last week preparing for the launch of the new school year through collective learning, connection, inspiration, and conversation. The week was filled with interactive meetings providing time for small-group discussion, essential team planning, and whole-group vision and inspiration. We’re excited to invite you into the experience with us by sharing a few highlights of our productive and energizing week:
  • Getting to know our new staffulty members through an introduction by Head of School Dr. Jessie Barrie and get-to-know-you activities.
  • Walking through the bosque to have lunch on the bank of the Rio Grande where we were joined by Chrissie Waquie, a member of the Diné Medicine Man Association, a non-profit organization comprised of over 200 Diné (Navajo) medicine men and women that exists to protect, preserve, and promote the Diné cultural wisdom, spiritual practice, and ceremonial knowledge for present and future generations.
  • Engaging in an active-listening and thoughtful community-building activity led by Middle School Counselor Carmen Martinez-Tittmann and Director of Equity, Community, and Culture Dr. Kee Straits.
  • Learning from members of our Medical Reserve Corps group and school nurse on when and how to administer critical medicine.
  • Taking part in CPR training led by Dr. Drew Harrell and Nurse Justine in a hands-on workshop.
  • Refreshing our risk-management skills through a school safety session led by Dr. Barrie and an Albuquerque Police Department colleague.
  • Finding out how to give and receive effective feedback through a workshop led by Dr. Steve Mclaughlin.
  • Listening to a live music performance by our incredible performing arts team.
  • Hearing Upper School Division Head Spree MacDonald share a powerful poem.
  • Having fun through creative and movement sessions, including yoga, pickleball, rock-painting, theater warm-up games—all led by our enthusiastic staffulty members.
  • Finding ways to maximize efficiency on Google Suite, Google Classroom, and more through faculty technology toolkit workshops
  • Planning sessions for every department, team, and division with a focus on creating engaging learning experiences for every student.
  • And expressing so much gratitude for the many, many people who contributed to making the week an inspiring and productive one!

By Thursday afternoon, we were feeling more connected with our community, excited for the arrival of our students, and filled with a sense of shared mission and purpose.
