Meet Our New Staffulty Members

Learn more about the incredible new staffulty members who joined our Bosque School community this year!

Rafael Martínez de León
Rafael Martinez de León joined Bosque School in 2021 and teaches middle school Spanish. Rafa is also the Spanish translator for the Bosque Ecosystem Monitoring Program (BEMP). Before coming to Bosque School, he taught in the bilingual program at Alvarado Elementary School in Albuquerque. Rafa completed his bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Instituto Salesiano de Estudios Superiores in Mexico City, and he is working toward his master’s degree in education from Universidad TecMilenio in Monterrey.

Originally from Monterrey, Mexico, Rafa spent several years working with indigenous communities throughout rural Mexico before coming to the US in 2006. In his free time, he likes traveling and spending time with his two dogs, Denver and Diego.

Kee J.E. Straits
Dr. Straits began working at Bosque School in 2021 as the director of equity, community and culture. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Williams College, her master’s degree in bilingual/multicultural special education from the University of New Mexico, and her doctorate in psychology from Utah State University. She is an Indigenous Latina (Quechua) bilingual, licensed psychologist and the founder of Tinkuy Life Community Transformations LLC, which provides consultation, training, workshops, research, evaluation and facilitation to schools, organizations and communities seeking to change systems and services to achieve health equity. Previously, Dr. Straits was the tribal-centric outcomes director for the New Mexico Tribal Prevention Project, and she is the author of several publications on equity, culture, professional ethics, and mental health. 

In the community, Dr. Straits is president of the board of directors for the Native Health Initiative, a member of the Albuquerque Public Schools Yazzie/Martinez Equity Council, an advisor for El Puente de Encuentros, and co-leader of the All Relations Alliance. 

Dr. Straits feels blessed to have her heart and home in Albuquerque with her husband (Dineh), her daughter, and the animals (llamas, goat, sheep, dog, guinea pigs, chickens) of QD Farm.

Norah Doss
Norah Doss joined Bosque School in 2021 and teaches upper school humanities. An Albuquerque native and graduate of independent school education, she attended Earlham College where she earned a bachelor’s degree in English and geosciences and went on to obtain a Master of Arts in Teaching, which focuses on pedagogical practices framed in integrity, social justice, community, and equality. She has taught in public and charter secondary schools in subjects ranging from theatre to English and remains adjunct faculty at Central New Mexico Community College. 

Norah enjoys fiber crafts and other sustainable art practices, singing classical music in local groups,  and learning about naturalism while hiking with her dog.

Heather Sullivan
Heather Sullivan joined Bosque School in 2021 and teaches 7th-grade math. She earned degrees in biology from Brown University and in secondary education from the University of New Mexico. Heather has a wide variety of experience as an educator and a researcher, and her specialty is teaching middle school math. She is passionate about honoring middle schoolers and helping them make meaningful connections, mathematically and otherwise. Heather received the Disney Teacher Award for creativity in teaching in 2005 for her work in the 7th-grade math classroom.  

A New Mexican since the age of two, Heather is the proud mother of two young children, Jonah and Leah, who are the apples of her eye. She loves hiking, exploring nature, growing sunflowers, making various types of art, and eating green chile and chocolate.

Becky Morse
Becky Morse joined Bosque School in 2021and teaches 8th-grade math. Before coming to Bosque School, Becky worked at Harrison Middle School for several years where she taught math and served as the chair of the Student Assistance Team. She also spent some time teaching at the juvenile detention center where she started and facilitated a program for incarcerated youths to take online classes at Central New Mexico Community College. Becky earned her teaching degree from the University of New Mexico in 2011 and  has several educational endorsements including math for grades 6-12 and TESOL (teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).  

Becky’s interests include skiing and scuba diving with her husband of 35 years, running marathons, being active in her church and promoting a growth mindset in her classroom. She and her husband have four grown children. 

Amanda Hart
Amanda joined Bosque School in 2021 as the events and stewardship manager. Amanda earned her bachelor’s degree in English and marketing, and for the past five years, she has worked in marketing, events, and communications for the Sundance Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, and iHeartMedia in Los Angeles, New York City, and Park City. During that time, she worked diligently to create and build relationships with donors, sponsors, and individuals in the entertainment industry.

In her spare time, Amanda likes to write, teach yoga, hike, bake, and play fetch with her cat, Melody Pond.

Emilio Ulibarri
Emilio Ulibarri began working for Bosque in 2021 as a chemistry teacher and athletic trainer. Emilio earned his bachelor's degree in athletic training from the University of New Mexico in 2020 and then completed his master's degree in sports administration from the University of Cincinnati in 2021. 

Emilio's interests include rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs, playing basketball, spending time with his family, and traveling with his partner, Merissa.

Jessica Coriz
Jessica joined Bosque School in 2021 as the accounting associate for the business office. Jessica has a master's degree in business administration from New Mexico Highlands University. 

Jessica is a New Mexico native and enjoys spending time with her two young children.
