Summer Reading Resources and Opportunities

“Reading gives us somewhere to go when we have to stay where we are.”
~Mason Cooley

“Summertime, and the livin’ is easy”…or is it? This summer, unlike any other, is filled with much uncertainty. We are living through an unprecedented time. We have “attended” school in ways we may not have expected, and many of us found ourselves pushing against it. For some of us, it became a time to discover other strengths and learning styles. And for all of us, the end of the semester will bring a shift.

I have missed our beautiful Ford Library physical space, with the purposeful noise and activity, the wanderings-through, the quick stops to place a piece in the puzzle or add a sketch to the whiteboard counters. I miss your smiles and whispers and the dogs.  Yes, I miss all that, but I also miss the conversations about books we have had. Whether we have read the same book and are sharing our understanding or questions about what that character was up to! Or whether we have read different books and just want to share with someone else, or recommend the next great read to someone.

In the meantime, we do have our summer.  And this summer, more than ever, is the time to dive into books. We, of course, have our Bosque Summer Reading; when we come back together in community, we will be able to discuss, write, share insights, and be with each other around these books. But we also have the time and opportunity to dive into whatever else we want to read!

Opportunities and Resources:

“One benefit of summer was that each day we had more light to read by.”
~Jeanette Wells, The Glass Castle
