Dr. Jessie Barrie Named President of NMAIS

Bosque is one of nine schools, including Manzano Day School, Albuquerque Academy, Sandia Prep, Menaul School, Santa Fe Prep, Desert Academy (Santa Fe), Rio Grande School (Santa Fe), and United World College (Las Vegas) represented by the New Mexico Association of Independent Schools (NMAIS).

The purpose of NMAIS is to encourage, support, and develop the highest standards of attainment in the independent schools in NM; to provide communication, develop inter-school relationships and promote mutual assistance among member schools; to strengthen understand and cooperation between independent schools and other non-public schools, state, regional, and national agencies and between independent schools and colleges and universities; and to make known to the public the ideals, objectives, and services of member schools. NMAIS Heads of Schools formally gather twice a year, at a member school, to support these goals and each other.

At the start of the COVID-19 crisis, that resulted in all NM schools to shift, almost overnight, to remote learning, Dr. Barrie initiated and has facilitated a weekly standing virtual meeting for the NMAIS Heads to be able to better collaborate and connect through such unprecedented times. In the last meeting, the group nominated and voted in Dr. Barrie to become NMAIS's new chairperson as of July 1st.
