Student Spotlight: Senior Thesis and Colloquium-Gabriel '20

Senior Thesis and Colloquium is the culmination of a seven-year journey. Bosque seniors undertake a yearlong independent research project and deliver their findings in a twenty-page research essay, as well as in a public presentation at Colloquium. Over the course of the year, students will submit a formal prospectus, conduct text-based research and fieldwork, and test their arguments at a defense. Stay tuned for more information about Colloquium and other major events.

Gabriel ‘20
Development of depression, anxiety, and other mental health disorders in high school students.

About Gabriel’s Thesis:
Gabriel is researching depression, anxiety, and other mental health disorders. He is looking into how they develop within high school students, how common they are, and what the common factors seem to be. Through this project, Gabriel hopes to learn why students with a mental health disorder developed the thoughts and emotions that influenced their mental state.

This topic is important to Gabriel because several members of his family have had or currently have a mental health disorder.

Researcher Bio:
Gabriel has been involved with the technical theater department since 8th grade and has "teched" many shows, including the mainstage and the musical each year.  In college, he wants to major in therapeutic psychology.
