Track and Field Starting the Season Strong

The Bosque track and field team had an amazing start to the outdoor season at the Bernalillo Invitational!

Two of our athletes qualified for state with their performances at the meet: Jakob '20 (Discus) and Ethan '20 (Triple Jump). The breakout performance of the day was in the girls’ Sprint Medley Relay. With the unfortunate injury to our distance runner planned for this event, Emma '23, a hurdler/sprinter, volunteered to run the anchor leg (800m) so that the other three girls on the relay team could still compete. Running against experienced half-milers, and never having run a half-mile in competition herself, Emma fought her way to winning the relay for the team. Overall, the Bobcats took 1st place in four events: Discus, Triple Jump, Long Jump (Ethan '20), and the Sprint Medley Relay (Allison '20, Jaimee '22, Izzy '23, and Emma '23).

Five new school records were set at the meet: Kate '21 (Shot Put), Jakob '20 (Discus and Shot Put), and Ethan '20 (Long Jump and Triple Jump). In addition, showing success across nearly all the events, the Bobcats achieved 39 individual Personal Records (PRs) at the meet.

Way to go, Bobcats!
