Congratulations to our Mock Trial team for an undefeated weekend at Mock Trial Qualifiers! We had three teams, consisting of 21 students, 3 courtroom artists, and a court reporter at the competition on Feb 21–22. Out of the 32 schools that competed, our Bosque “Blue” varsity team earned 2nd place in the Northern Qualifier and became one of the eight schools that will be moving on to State Competition March 13–14.
The following accolades were given to Bosque’s Mock Trial team members at Qualifiers:
Annie ‘20: Outstanding Witness
Eden ‘20: Outstanding Attorney
Jakob ‘20: 2nd Place Courtroom Artist
Kobe ‘20: Top 8 Courtroom Artist
Ezra ‘21: 3rd Place Courtroom Artist
The varsity team won all four of their rounds and are tied for the first team in the state based on number of rounds won and ballots won. The only factor that brought them down to 2nd place was the number of points accumulated.
“It was very fun,” Mock Trial senior member Julian said, “We had a very good four rounds.”
Shane ‘20 shared, “I love Mock Trial. This is my third year doing it. I’m really happy with the program because we only started three years ago and we moved up so well over those three years.” The first year the program came into existence they finished in 9th place, last year they earned 3rd place, and this year they’re in 2nd place with State still on the horizon.
“It’s an incredible experience and everyone should come out to State,” said Mock Trial member Emma ‘20.
Bosque’s varsity team will be competing in State on March 13 @ 2 pm and on March 14 @ 9 am and 2 pm at ABQ Metro Court. The public is invited to come out and support our Bobcats.
