Math Contest Results Are In!

Bosque students competed in two important math contests during November, and many students were recognized for their excellent performance. The first was the UNM-PNM Statewide Math Contest. This contest, unique to New Mexico, had 741 participants overall in the state, with 34 of those being Bosque students from 7th–12th grade. This extremely challenging contest consists of 10 questions which students have 3 hours to work on. The following students scored well enough in their respective grade levels to be invited to the second round of the contest, which occurs on Saturday, February 1 from 1:00–to 4:00 pm on the UNM campus. Students attending the second round will receive a T-shirt, which has their name listed along with all the other second round qualifiers, and will compete for state- level awards. Congratulations to these high-achieving Bosque math students: Isa ‘25, Aidan ‘25, Nick ‘25, Kayhaan ‘25, Riley ‘24, Ophelia ‘24, Alynna ‘24, Ian ‘24, Felix ‘23, Aidan ‘22, Luc ‘22, Aldo ‘22, Jacob ‘21, Gabriel ‘20, Chloe ‘20, and Isaiah ‘20.

The second contest in November was the AMC 8 from the Mathematical Association of America. This 25-question, multiple-choice exam for middle school students is a lead up to the nationally recognized contest for high school students, the AMC 10/12. Within the school, Sam ‘24 won 1st place and Ian ‘24 received 2nd place. Noah ‘24 and JT ‘24 tied for 3rd place, followed by Ella ‘25, Alynna ‘24, and Zoë ‘24 all tying for 4th place.

Great job, Bosque math students!

The next math contest is the most prestigious and well-known contest in the country. This is the AMC 10/12, which will be held at Bosque on Thursday, January 30. Upper school students interested in this contest should see their math teacher or TJ Middleton, Math Department Leader.
