On October 19, Bosque School hosted Model UN Parliamentary Procedure Training (ParliaPro) again this year. Over 50 students from across the city from both independent and APS schools were in attendance. The event was facilitated by six Model United Nations veterans from UNM, and co-hosted by Mr. Scott Melton, Bosque School English teacher, with five Model UN coaches from Albuquerque Public Schools.
Bosque School students and Model UN members—Julian ‘20, Hawthorn ‘22, Dante ‘20, and Arielle ‘21—participated in the training. Mr. Melton noted, “It was an extremely productive morning for our aspiring states people.”
Arielle shared details about her morning. "As a new member of Model United Nations this year, Parliamentary Procedure did a great job of teaching me the important terms and official agenda for how Model United Nations conferences take place. After hearing a presentation from UNM students about the process, we split up into small groups and worked through a mock debate which I found very helpful. Overall, I found Parliamentary Procedure very informative and I am much more confident about participating in a more formal setting; I would definitely recommend new and experienced students to partake in next year's Parliamentary Procedure because it heightened my excitement about participating in Model United Nations this year "
