WOKE Breaks New Ground Under Seniors’ Leadership

Through the shared leadership of seniors Addison, Bella T., Lucas, Isaac, and Tice, students rallied and focused the efforts of the WOKE Service Learning group both on and off campus.

Their efforts, in conjunction with those of APS students from various high schools, spearheaded the first-ever Youth Celebrate Diversity conference to be held in the state of New Mexico. The entire group served as facilitators for the conference, which took place on April 13 at Manzano High School.

The YCD executive committee brought together 300 students from all parts of New Mexico for an amazing and enlightening day of discovery and conversations on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Kudos to all of our WOKE Service Learning members and especially to our five seniors who will carry on the message of social justice in their future endeavors.
