State Golf: Lauren Ties for 8th!

Congratulations to Lauren ’22 for finishing tied 8th in the 2019 State Golf Tournament in Hobbs!

This is particularly impressive given that this is Lauren’s first State Golf Tournament and only her second year of competing in 18-hole tournaments. Lauren has the perfect temperament to continue to achieve and raise her competitive golf game to even higher levels.

Apart from having great core skills, working hard, and not letting anything phase her, she also has BMT (Big Match Temperament)—on the first hole in the second round, with formal announcements of players as they prepared to tee off; officials from both the NMAA and Sun Country; and multiple coaches and spectators watching, Lauren fired a beautiful shot off the tee, over the water onto the green, and came really close to a hole-in-one!

She endured an entire first round played in rain (with two lightning delays), and a second round starting with cold and some rain, but fortunately warming up for the last nine holes. Most importantly though, Lauren said she really enjoyed the experience!

Well done, Lauren! We’re all very proud of you!
