Tiny Critters Captured at Alameda BEMP Site

Bosque 6th graders took a trip to the Alameda BEMP site last Wednesday for pitfall trapping, where students collected surface-active arthropods. Collecting the tiny critters helps the students learn more about their abundance and diversity and also helps increase their knowledge about food webs and the conditions of the bosque. Students also got to spend some time checking out river flows, the likes of which haven’t been seen in about 14 years—longer than these 6th graders have been alive!
