Team Plays Ladera Tourney; Gets Invited to Metro Tourney

The Bosque golf team—Phillip ’19, Noah ’19, Tahir ’22, Michael ’20, Jason ’20, Lauren ’22, and Maya ’20—played the APS Ladera Tournament on Wednesday, April 17, and then received an invitation to the Metro Tournament at Paradise Hills, where they competed against all the larger high schools on Monday, April 22.

Ladera was a great tournament for the team, despite the cold and rainy start! Lauren placed 3rd overall and achieved her third and final qualifying leg for state. Lauren will be competing in the State Golf Tournament in Hobbs from May 10–12; this is an awesome achievement for a 9th grader!

Phillip had the lowest score, with a one shot lead over Lauren, followed by Tahir, only one shot further out. Tahir improved on his previous best score by 15 shots, in part due to a change in his strategic approach to the round; well done, Tahir!

Jason and Michael had their best tournament scores for the year. Maya completed her first full stroke-play tournament round, without any use of double par!

“Well done, team, you are going from strength to strength!” said Coach Jacqui Spence. “We are all very proud of you, not only because of your great attitude and good golf, but also because of the integrity you display on the course. All of you, and your parents, are great representatives for Bosque School. We truly appreciate you.”
