Bosque's Got Jazz Talent

Congratulations to Bosque sophomores Evan, Mateo, and Jonah, who with sax player Paul Lovato, have just been named one of two finalist quartets in the First Annual Jazz Competition, a new collaboration between the New Mexico Jazz Workshop and the Saulkrasti Jazz Festival! The quartet performed three pieces for the "blind judging" stage of the competition, including an original work by Evan called "For the Music." The group will now take on the other competition finalist, a quartet from NMSU, for the chance to perform at the Saulkrasti Jazz Festival in Latvia this July. The finalist showdown is set for Saturday, March 30 at 2:30 pm at the New Mexico Jazz Workshop located at 5500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Tickets are free but space is limited. RSVP to Debbie at 505-255-9798 x.3 or!

See the three pieces that got the quartet to the finals: “Ladybird” by Tadd Dameron, “For the Music” written by Evan, “In a Sentimental Mood” by Duke Ellington.

Good luck Evan, Mateo, Jonah, and Paul!
