Small but Mighty: Science Olympiad Team Shines!

Bosque’s Upper School Science Olympiad Team had an amazing showing at the NM 2019 State Science Olympiad Competition in Socorro on February 23.  Bosque’s small group of five juniors—Chloe, Gabe, Julian, Lizzy, and Sierra—participated in 12 out of 24 events; that itself is remarkable since most  individual Olympians usually don’t compete in 4+ events. Students received medals in events for their outstanding performance.

In her recognition comments at Tuesday’s morning meeting, Science Olympiad coach Caroline Enos said,” Five Bosque students were determined and hard working...kept pushing through all the obstacles that occurred and represented Bosque with distinction.” Ms. Enos also credited their teamwork and Bosque education for their outstanding performance.
Following are the medals received:
2nd place Fermi Questions – Julian & Gabe
3rd place Herpetology – Lizzy & Chloe
5th place Astronomy – Sierra l & Chloe
7th place Disease Detectives – Lizzy
7th place Wright Stuff – Lizzy & Gabe
9th place Code Busters – Sierra & Gabe
10th place Thermodynamics – Sierra & Chloe
10th place Write It Do It – Lizzy & Julian
Ms. Enos added, “A special thanks to Andy Dalton who coached this entire year with special attention to the build projects. He was a great asset to the team and volunteered although his daughter was unable to participate this year.”
Great job, Science Olympiad Team!
