How the Rio Came into Being

This week, Jim Daly’s 7th grade science class traveled to the Rio Grande River to begin learning about Albuquerque’s watershed. The assignment was to creatively brainstorm independent ideas, scientific or fictional, of how the river and Sandia Mountains were created. Bosque’s Science curriculum often encourages students to leave the classroom and perform experiments within the ecosystem they are researching. Throughout the semester, the 7th grade class will get back to the Rio Grande in order to collect water samples, identify microbes, and analyze cleanliness. All of this data will be sent to Watershed Watch, a partnership with the New Mexico Department of Game & Fish. You can learn more about it here.
