Horizons is a nationally recognized academic enrichment program that addresses the achievement gap and summer learning loss for public school students from low-income families that qualify under the federal income guidelines for free or reduced lunch. Horizons Albuquerque, an affiliate of Horizons National, partners with six Albuquerque Public Schools. The program is grounded with a six-week summer school session and is supplemented with family engagement workshops, and after school tutoring throughout the school year. Horizons blends academics with arts, sports, and cultural enrichment as well as confidence-building activities, particularly swimming, guitar, and tennis.
Horizons helps me with the goals that I want to accomplish. It helps me do more things like being good at reading and math, and especially playing guitar. It also helps me with my long-term goal of going to college and playing softball for the University of Oregon.
