What's a fun or surprising fact that most people at the school might not know about you?

I'm an empath, and it is my superpower!

Outside of school, how do you like to spend your free time? Any hobbies or interests you'd like to share?

I spend most of my free time with my family. I am married and have three boys. My boys are in their competitive sports era, so I'm excellent at showing up and cheering them on in lacrosse, tennis, swimming, jump rope, and soccer. I enjoy being outside, being near water, and camping. I love to read and cook new recipes. I have gotten pretty good at gluten-free baking. I am passionate about Broadway musicals and pretend on the regular that I could really be onstage! My dream role would be Elphaba in Wicked or Maureen in Rent! However, my absolute favorite thing to do is travel. I travel to experience new cultures, explore different places, and immerse myself in new environments.

Share a brief overview of your educational and professional journey that led you to Bosque School.

I graduated in 2006 from nursing school and went straight into the pediatric ICU. I loved being able to care for one or two patients at a time and get to know them and their families. However, I was only 22 and felt like I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life. So my then-boyfriend (now husband) and I took off and traveled the world for a year, living out of backpacks, and visited 21 countries. I used to trade my clothes and snacks from home for more books! After returning, I started in the Pediatric Post Anesthesia Care Unit, getting my master's degree in nursing education and becoming a Unit Based Nurse Educator for Pediatric Surgical Services. In 2017, I started subbing in the school nurse's office at my kids' school, and it turns out I really loved it!

Do you have any pets?

Two golden retrievers, Odin and Orla.

What's one of your favorite memories or moments from your time at Bosque School so far?

Last Friday, I had the honor of accompanying the wildlife students as they radio-collared a porcupine! I even got to expand my scope of practice and count respirations on the sedated porcupine.

Can you share a specific instance where you felt a strong connection with a student or witnessed a notable "aha" moment in the classroom?

Any time I can help a student to navigate and better advocate for their health is a huge win!
What would you tell a family that is considering Bosque School?

It is just as magical on the inside as it appears on the outside!

If you could give one piece of advice to your students, what would it be?

Protect your health! Eat breakfast, fuel your body, drink water, wear sunscreen, and move your body.
