Meet Bosque’s Student Support Team

Bosque School’s Student Support Department helps students and families find success inside and outside the classroom. Our multidisciplinary department includes a learning specialist and an assistant, a nurse and a health assistant, and two mental health counselors. Together, the Student Support Department staffulty members assist in creating equitable learning environments that address academic, physical, and mental health concerns, enabling all adolescents to function at their best. Moreover, we support faculty through professional development and insight into how to best support students with a variety of learning, emotional, and/or health needs. A partnership with students, families, faculty, and administration helps ensure that each adolescent finds success, both academically and socially, at Bosque School.

Ms. Amy Gurley is our learning specialist and brings many years of classroom experience to her position. Amy’s journey in education began as a 1st-grade general education teacher in a marginalized community. When her own children were diagnosed with learning differences, she became a successful parent advocate for early childhood interventions and comprehensive dyslexia treatments in Texas public schools. Since then, her professional path changed lanes to Special Education Administration, where she served three school districts in leadership roles, serving all grade levels and a variety of special needs. Amy is passionate about helping students maximize their full learning potential in the least restrictive environment, and this remains a key factor in serving students and families at Bosque School. She creates accommodation plans in conjunction with her team to help students achieve academic success.

Phoebe Cooper is the Student Support Department assistant, helping write accommodation plans and keeping things running smoothly. In addition to assisting with Bosque Summer and Esports, Phoebe is currently pursuing a degree in Speech-Language Pathology at UNM.

Nurse Tara has over 18 years of pediatric nursing experience and is a registered nurse with a master's degree in nursing education. She has worked in the Pediatric ICU, the Pediatric Post-Anesthesia Care Unit, and school nursing. She spent 8 of those years working as a nurse educator for Pediatric Surgical Services at UNMH. She is also a Certified Pediatric Nurse and hopes to be a Certified School Nurse by the end of the school year. At Bosque School, Nurse Tara provides everyday support in the health office for everything from a broken fingernail to emergency health-related issues and chronic health conditions, and she assists with student medical accommodations. She also implements medical leave for students and continues to follow up with these students. Tara also partners with our Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) program while providing first aid on campus. She utilizes her nurse educator skills to provide education and teach within the MRC program. Nurse Tara will also teach middle school sexual education this school year.

Our Health Assistant, Natasha, is an experienced and compassionate healthcare specialist committed to providing exceptional care across diverse patient populations. Beginning her journey as a Certified Nursing Assistant in 2014, she built a solid foundation in patient support before becoming a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant in 2016, refining her skills in clinical support and administrative management. Most recently, she expanded her expertise by achieving Emergency Medical Technician Certification in 2023, further enhancing her ability to handle acute care and emergencies. Natasha’s broad experience includes roles in both hospital and clinical settings, spanning numerous specialties, including Dermatology, MOHS surgery, Orthopedics, and Podiatry. Driven by the core belief that her heart is in helping others, Natasha consistently delivers compassionate and dedicated patient care to our adolescents at Bosque School.

Ms. Stephanie Andre is our Upper School Counselor and holds licensure as an LPCC and school counselor. Stephanie came to Bosque School with experience working in both school and clinical settings. She began her career as a community mental health therapist in Tucson after graduating summa cum laude from her master's program at the University of Arizona. Her family moved to Albuquerque in 2021, shortly after which she supported adolescents and adults at UNM Hospital, and then pre-k through 8th-grade students at a bilingual charter school. Stephanie enjoys supporting students' mental and emotional well-being in a variety of contexts across campus. She endeavors to be rarely seen sitting alone in her office, preferring to connect with students over a puzzle in the library when she's not teaching, running an awareness campaign, or counseling individuals or small groups.

Dr. Becky Bone is our Middle School Counselor and a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in developmental neuropsychology and behavioral neuroscience. After completing a clinical internship and postdoctoral fellowship, Dr. Bone has worked in hospitals and medical centers, as well as academic institutions in Illinois, Washington, and New Mexico, supporting the entire developmental life span. She has always gravitated toward working with students and families, and loves being in schools to help adolescents better understand themselves and their brains. Dr. Bone’s passion for clinical neuropsychology is seen in her creation of the neuroscience class, individualized support for executive functioning skills, and her ability to develop trusting relationships with students and families in her counseling office. When she is not at Bosque School, Dr. Bone loves being outdoors, running a workout with friends, and mountain biking or snowboarding with her family.
