🌟✨ What an incredible ending to our Bosque School Intercultural Exchange Program hosting Prepa UDEM!
A message from Prof Martínez de León
In a remarkable addition to our Bosque School narrative, we had the pleasure of hosting 11 students and a teacher from Preparatoria UDEM in Monterrey, Mexico, for a two-week immersion program. This wonderful cultural exchange represents the fulfillment of our Bosque Intercultural Exchange Program, where our students journeyed to Prepa UDEM in Monterrey last May.
Our Regios y Regias from Monterrey had an unforgettable time exploring the Duke City and its surrounding areas. From the mesmerizing Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta to the historic Acoma Pueblo and the artistic religious attractions in Santa Fe, our students soaked up the Land of Enchantment’s rich culture and history. Including the spectacular solar annular eclipse!
One of the highlights of the trip was visiting the Santuario de Chimayo, where all of our students had the opportunity to experience the spiritual significance of this sacred site. And let's not forget our last day, when we had an absolute blast exploring the mind-bending Meow Wolf museum!
But it wasn't just about sightseeing and learning. Our families organized a fun pumpkin carving activity, where everyone showcased their creativity and bonded over the Halloween spirit. It was a fantastic way to bring everyone together and create lasting memories.
And, of course, we couldn't say goodbye without a proper farewell potluck dinner! Our parents organized a heartwarming event filled with laughter, joy, and cultural performances. Michael Valencia ‘27 wowed us all with his regional Mexican dance, while Keira Thomas ‘24 serenaded us with her beautiful voice. And our very own DJ Rosco Floyd kept the energy high with karaoke!
We want to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who made this exchange program possible, accounting for the 17 years of offering this transformative immersive program to our students. From the Bosque School community to the host families and, of course, our amazing students, thank you for making this experience truly unforgettable. We hope the bonds formed and the memories made will last a lifetime.
