Bosque School Commencement: Celebrating Achievement and Looking Towards the Future

On Friday, May 24, the Bosque School community came together to celebrate the commencement of the 2024 graduates.

Dr. Jessie Barrie set the tone with an opening address that combined Bosque School experiences with the thoughtful lyrics of Taylor Swift, creating a meaningful connection for everyone. Senior Ella M. delivered a heartfelt senior address, making connections between her scientific research of porcupines and the lessons from the book "How to Hug a Porcupine: Easy Ways to Love the Difficult People in Your Life," offering helpful insights for the graduates as they set off on their future endeavors.

Bosque School alum Daniella Rivera shared her experiences since graduating in 2010, offering motivation and words of encouragement for the graduating class as they transition into the next chapter of their lives. Dr. Spree McDonald surprised the audience with a musical twist with his own rendition of "Who Are You" by The Who, accompanied by a guitar solo from Dr. Scott Crago, background vocals by Nicolle Maniaci and Joanna Hart, piano by Julia Manganaro, and drums by Aaron Morales, making for a truly memorable moment.

Bosque School's class of 2024 will be attending 39 different colleges and universities across 18 states and 1 province. As a class, they were awarded an impressive 15 million dollars in merit scholarships over their four-year university education! Several students committed to collegiate athletics at esteemed institutions such as Drury University, Macalester College, and Adams State University. Additionally, three graduates will be attending women's colleges—Scripps, Barnard, and Wellesley—continuing Bosque School's tradition of empowering young women in higher education.

As the ceremony came to a close, it was evident that the Bosque School Class of 2024 is not only prepared for the challenges that lie ahead but also equipped with the values and skills instilled by their time at Bosque School. Congratulations to the graduates, and here's to the bright futures that await them!
