Samantha Williams ‘10

Samantha “Samm” Williams’ 10 is thrilled to finally be back in New Mexico and back at Bosque School!

Samm earned her bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and her master’s in Basic Sciences, with a thesis focused on integrating math into science curriculum. She also holds certifications in Biology (with honors), Middle School Science, and 8–12 Mathematics.

After teaching in Louisiana, Samm returned to New Mexico the moment a position opened at Bosque School. “I loved my job in Louisiana, but I always told them that if a job here came up, I would take it in a second”. This year, her 8th-grade science students are reading The Martian by Andy Weir, exploring the science alongside the novel’s challenges.

As a student at Bosque School, Samm was active in lacrosse and drama, performing in A Midsummer Night's Dream and Once Upon a Mattress. She credits Bosque with teaching her to back up her beliefs with evidence. “Bosque taught me how to not only stand up for what I thought was right (in a molecular biology lab and in life), but it also taught me how to back up that belief. So many people say things with conviction but have no idea how they reached that conclusion, and so they are unwilling to change their minds when presented with new evidence. In my years here, I learned how to look at the world around me and draw conclusions from evidence.”

Outside the classroom, Samm is reconnecting with her passion for West Coast Swing dancing and is excited to rejoin the dance community in the Southwest.
