If you visited Winrock Town Center on any Tuesday or Thursday morning this summer, you probably saw a group of Bosque School students and alumni offering wildlife science programming to kids ranging from toddlers to teens. This program, called Park Explorers, is a collaboration between Goodman Realty and the Bosque School’s CEBRIN Field and Community Science program, launched in 2024. 

This June and July, families, summer camps, and daycare groups brought students for weekday programs that explored local wildlife. From otters and beavers to birds and reptiles, groups of up to 80 students were led by the CEBRIN team to explore the environment and learn how we can protect it. In the midst of a summer plagued by drought and extreme heat, the Winrock Town Center has created a haven not just for wildlife, but for Park Explorers of any age to get hands-on experience with all that our desert environment has to offer.

Park Explorers was facilitated this summer by CEBRIN Summer Education Coordinator, Eliot Patton (‘24), and made possible by several of our current Bosque School students and alumni, including: Sophie Griego (‘25), Donny Kelley-Currens (‘18), Macy King (‘25), Ruby McCampbell Custer (‘25), Julius Wurzel Vizcarra (‘26), and Lelia Yane (‘25). A special thanks to Donny, whose Bosque and Sandia Mountain wildlife illustrated books were shared with hundreds of families. And a shoutout to Lelia, who created educational pamphlets that every student or passerby received to take home.
