Jack Ivey ’15 Returns to Campus to Share Life After Graduation

Jack Ivey ’15 joined us on campus to speak with our Upper School students about his post–high school journey, the experiences that shaped him along the way, and the research he has conducted. After graduating from Bosque School, Jack moved to Southern California to attend the University of Redlands. His undergraduate research focused on legacy organic pollutants in glaciers—a project that required a trek to a glacier and sparked a deep interest in water research. This experience ultimately led him to pursue a degree in chemistry.

Through connections in Albuquerque, Jack secured a National Science Foundation grant to conduct graduate research on the biological remediation of nutrient contamination using wastewater bacteria. This work introduced him to Shared. Futures, an ArtScience collaborative that brings together local scientists and artists to explore what our shared futures could look like. Alongside other scientists and artists, Jack’s work was showcased in 2024 at the Explora Science Center and Children’s Museum of Albuquerque.

Jack recently graduated from the University of New Mexico with a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering and is actively applying for jobs and connecting with opportunities across the state. He plans to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam soon and hopes to begin working as an environmental engineer, protecting and improving New Mexico’s water resources.
